Paper

In the Netherlands, every individual on average uses around 225 kg of paper each year. Approximately 75 per cent of this paper is collected and recycled again. As a result, it is old paper, not wood that is the main raw material for new paper and cardboard. Van Gansewinkel Groep plays an important part in this process.
Every day in every industry, large volumes of paper and cardboard are ‘binned’.
We collect the paper and cardboard with different types of vehicles and the bulk of this waste goes to one of our paper processing sites, which is where we unload the household paper we’ve collected as well.
The collected material is then separated at these paper processing sites. This sorting is necessary because of the wide variety of different paper and cardboard types collected; including newspapers, tissue, corrugated and folding carton amongst other things. The sorting is partly done manually and partly with sieve and air stream techniques. A separation is made between the various paper qualities and we then use a special press to compact the sorted paper and board into large bales which are delivered to paper factories throughout Europe and Asia to make ‘new’ paper and cardboard.
Our subsidiary, Destra Data, collects, transports, processes and destroys confidential corporate waste using a completely closed logistics chain. On an industrial scale, Destra Data has the most modern archive destruction facilities, which result in the smallest possible cuttings with around 90 per cent of the final product of Destra Data used for the manufacture of tissue products and the rest used for the production of cardboard.
The collected and processed office paper is turned into new high quality office paper: Van Gansewinkel Office Paper. Van Gansewinkel Office Paper is certified by the scientific Cradle to Cradle institute EPEA. Van Gansewinkel Office Paper is the first office paper in the world with Cradle-to-Cradle certification. That’s why we say:
